One of the best parts about Coolum Beach is the boardwalk that meanders up a hill to Point Perry (a good place for whale watching, apparently) and down again for a kilometre or so to the beach and the Coolum Surf Club. It’s shaded by trees but has spots with incredible views of the ocean.
As I mentioned in my last post, we decided to take our Monday trip on Tuesday because of Labour Day. This also coincided with the end of school holidays, so we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. Well, there were other people there, but only about 20. It was warm, the sand was soft, and the surf was good. There were some rip tides to watch out for, but Dan stayed closer to the flags than he usually does.
After a couple hours on the beach, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant on the main street of Coolum. Dan had sushi, as he does nearly every Monday, and I had Japanese curry.
